Inttra, a leading multi-carrier e-commerce network for ocean shipping, has ranked five ocean carriers that lead the way in responsiveness via e-booking for shipping services

The five carriers with the quickest response time are MCC Transport, Safmarine, United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), Maersk Line and Hamburg Süd. The firm has provided the first global benchmark of the amount of time taken to electronically book a container shipment with leading ocean carriers, through its ocean carrier booking responsiveness analysis.

Among the five, MCC Transport delivered a responsiveness score 64 per cent faster than the median figure of 113 minutes. Three of the five are A.P Moeller-Maersk carriers, stated the report.

E-shipping is an effective and cost-friendly way to manage global shipments compared to the conventional manual approach. However, this method still takes more time than other support channels like phone or fax. In its analysis, Inttra measured the extent of carrier responsiveness across major trade lanes on a multi-carrier e-commerce platform by scanning electronic booking times from the time a shipper enters a request till a carrier finally responds.

Sandra Moran, chief marketing officer for Inttra, said, “The time it takes for ocean carriers to respond to electronic booking requests is a critical factor in e-shipping adoption. Too many shippers still rely on manual means, such as phone calls, when booking with a carrier, which does not deliver the same level of savings, shipment data quality or efficiency derived when booking electronically. This is why Inttra has chosen to spotlight this issue, and recognize MCC Transport and the top five carriers that are vastly outperforming the industry in responsiveness for e-booking.”

Naresh Potty, chief commercial officer for MCC Transport said that responsiveness is critical to drive customer satisfaction and reduce costs too.

Additionally, Inttra also looked at responsiveness data for major regional trade lanes in Asia, North America and Europe that revealed that ZIM, Maersk Line and UASC clocked the fastest responsive time compared to other carriers.
