Global shipping major Hapag-Lloyd will offer an improved service between West Africa and Northern Europe through the Standalone West Africa Express (WAX) Service, starting 10 August 2015
The new service will commence on ships that sail from Antwerp on 10 August 2015 and Hamburg from 12 August 2015.
The new WAX service provides competitive transit times to and fro key markets – from Antwerp, it would take only 13 days to Dakar, and 11 days to Abidjan, said Hapag-Lloyd.
“Within the last years, we have seen continuous growth from and to West Africa due to rising investments, growing import and export volumes as well as an increased demand for selected products from West Africa. We are absolutely confident that, with the new service, Hapag-Lloyd will offer its customers an excellent and competitive product from and to this emerging market,” said Hapag-Lloyd managing director for Europe Michael Pradel.
The service will be the only direct full container service from Hamburg and neighbouring countries to West Africa. Furthermore, Hapag-Lloyd will offer this service as a standalone solution with high reliability and multiple connections to its comprehensive global service network at major transshipment ports.
Future port rotation will be Antwerp-Hamburg-Algeciras-Dakar-Tema-Abidjan-Antwerp.
