The Volta Region is one of the most populous region of Ghana with farming, fishing and tourism being the main economic activities prevalent in the area

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Fifi Kwetey, together with a team of experts, promoted the creation of a new airport in Ho City as part of efforts to open up the Volta region for economic development.

This new airport will not only connect Ho with other cities like Takodari, Accra, Tamale, but will serve also as key fuelling station for international flights.

The project includes a 1,600 metres new runway, 45 metres width, a taxi way, an apron and two parking bases for aircraft.

For this project the Ghanaian construction company AMANDI  chose the Marini last generation asphalt plant Be Tower 2000P. This batching plant, with an hour capacity of 160 t/h, has been able to supply high quality hot mix asphalt for the airport runway and ancillary roads, with a performing daily production of more than 1,000 tonnes.

Modular, on metallic support basis, this asphalt plant 100 per cent made in Marini Italy, in spite of its size and capacity is easy to transport, to erect and to put into operation.

The official inauguration of the Ho airport runway took place in November 2016. The most exciting moment of inauguration has been when the Ghana President’s helicopter landed on the tarmac to a rousing welcome from the people.
