Ethiopian Airlines has announced the launch of a mobile ticketing service for its flights

Provided in partnership with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and payment service provider Flocash, the new service will allow customers in Ethiopia to book tickets, pay and receive payment confirmation with the associated passenger record locater, along with a single connection.

Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said, “In November, we started Mobile SMS information system with access to real-time and personalised information regarding flight information and cargo.

“Now, we are taking it a step further by availing the mobile payment option for online purchases in Ethiopia. As a customer service organisation, we will continuously work hard to avail to our customers the best possible travel experience both on the ground and on board.”

The airline has been offering the mobile service to customers in several African markets including Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Ghana since last year, and said it plans to extend it to Senegal, Zambia and Rwanda by the end of 2015.
