Dubai carrier launches three new routes to Tanzania

Dubai-based airline flydubai has announced the launch of flights to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania

A company official said that the new flights will start operations from October 2014, expanding the airline’s network in Africa to 12 destinations.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said, “With the addition of three new destinations in Tanzania, we have doubled our network in North and East Africa in 2014, strengthening our commitment to serving previously underserved markets.”

The company said it was targetting Tanzania as a regional hub for tourism in East Africa. In 2013, the country welcomed more than one million tourists – a figure expected to double to about two million tourists in 2017.

The Dubai-based airline had also announced the launch of flights to Bujumbura in Burundi, Entebbe in Uganda and Kigali in Rwanda. Flights to these destinations will commence at the end of September 2014.
