Boeing delivers Africa’s first 777 Freighter to Ethiopian Airlines

Boeing has announced Ethiopian Airlines has received delivery of Africas first 777 Freighter

Addis Ababa-based Ethiopian Airlines has leased the Freighter from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), adding to its all-Boeing fleet of 737, 757, 767 and 787 aircraft.

Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said, "As the largest African cargo carrier operating in some of the fastest growing trade lanes of the world - between Africa and Europe, Middle East, and Asia - the new 777 Freighter fleet will significantly enhance our tonnage and range capabilities.”

The 777 Freighter, which Boeing has claimed to be the world's longest-range twin-engine freighter, will be a significant addition for the airline company which has an expanding network of 15 destinations in Africa, 7 in Middle East and 2 in Europe.
