Tata Motors Uganda has launched the Prima LX 2528 heavy commercial vehicle, which will ease transport in sectors such as mining and oil and gas
Keeping in mind the changing trucking landscape and rough roads in the East African nation, the company has configured their latest vehicle accordingly.
Tata Motors International sales head Rudrarup Maitra said, “The sheet metal dies are from Japan and South Korea, combined with Swedish precision on a robotic weld line. The Prima LX 2528 is referred to as the World truck of Tata Motors.”
The trucks is driven by a high-performance CRDi Cummins engine. It has a proven Tata G1150 9-speed gearbox, a 37T Bogie Suspension, RA 109 Single Reduction Axle, a world-class Prima LX Cabin, with the option of an AC as well. The cabins are equipped with advanced technologies to reduce noise and vibration levels and improve safety, and also have provisions for optional fitments that create a healthy and comfortable driving environment. The clutch in the vehicle is also larger, for efficient power transmission. The Prima LX 2528 can carry 12 to 14 tonnes of weight.
The truck is suited to work in all terrains and has a quick turnaround time that leads to improved TCO (total cost of ownership). The tippers have a combination of power, fuel efficiency and superior performance – all of which bode well with customers, said Tata Motors.
The company’s head of international business RT Wasan added that the launch of the Prima range in Uganda is an important milestone in the expansion of the Ugandan market and East Africa.
