FLSmidth is currently processing orders for materials handling and minerals processing equipment to be used for a long-term coal client in the Tete region of Mozambique
The Danish engineering firm will supply the minerals processing equipment, which will be used to create Africa’s largest horizontal filters in 2014, the company stated.
“The coal industry is one of FLSmidth’s six focus industries, and now with the recent acquisition of Ludowici, FLSmidth offers a complete range of equipment for this industry - a decisive factor for this order,” FLSmidth Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen said.
“Furthermore, this contract demonstrates the continued good relationship between a major global coal and iron ore producer and FLSmidth, and it is an important step for FLSmidth towards the planned global market leadership in coal.”
Around six horizontal belt filters were provided by FLSmidth during the first stage, the extra six units, each 4.2 metres wide and 29.5 metres long, will create a total filter area of 1,488 sq m, FLSmidth said.
Delivery of the new equipment is expected to take place from November 2013.
