Machinery manufacturer Caterpillar Work Tools has introduced demolition and sorting grapples for the MENA market, which are designed specifically for hydraulic excavators to sort out debris and other related construction work

The grapples – G310 GC, G313 GC and G315 GC – are an addition to the G300 series, and designed for hydraulic operators with operating weights ranging from 10 to 19 metric tonnes. They are built specifically to sort out debris at source, load, unload containers, or strip a building down prior to demolition, said Cat officials.

Bert Heijligers, marketing communications manager at Caterpillar Work Tools BV, said, “Our economical new demolition and sorting grapples are purpose-built to handle materials and fit our customers’ budget. They are designed to reach a broader family of customers and compete in a fast-growing market. All GC grapples are backed by Caterpillar’s commitment to quality.”

The G300 GC grapples are available with a fixed upper head or with a top plate for mounting an adapter bracket, which allows the grapple to be exchanged among multiple carriers. When used with the dedicated Cat CW Quick Coupler, the grapple can be exchanged in seconds for other Cat work tools. Cat excavators have pre-programmed hydraulic settings to accommodate G300 Series grapples.

Purposely built for demolition and sorting applications, the new grapple has a low height and features a durable shell and hinge design in its construction. Hydraulic components are fully protected, and the one piece push bar, provides powerful closing forces for the grab shells.

In addition, the G300 GC series grapple features hydraulic, 360-degree rotation, enabling the grapple to approach material from virtually any angle and also minimising the need to move the carrier. The perforated shells offer optimal view during operation. The square design allows maximum accessibility to material, and the smooth inner surface of the shells and their high clearance promote optimal loading.

Maintenance panels on the G300 GC grapples provide easy access to main component. Weekly service intervals and easily-accessible lubrication points help keep downtime to a minimum.
