Fayemi said, “It (the committee) is at liberty to identify sub-sectional activities along the mineral value chain that will enhance the rapid development of the industry.” He termed the assignment as being critical as the ministry will be counting on the members.

The committee was given three weeks to complete its assignment including identifying hindrances to thedevelopment of mineral resources in Nigeria, recognising pathways to overcome such barriers, prioritising activities and assigning time frames to all activities. They were also given the responsibilty of creating models and scenarios for successful implementation and monitoring activities and developing a consensus strategy for buy-in by all stakeholders in the industry.
