Diehl Metering, supplier of smart solutions for water management, has offered an approach to develop the understanding of water networks infrastructures and the need for development and maintenance

African continent is one of the most impacted by Non-Revenue Water phenomena. Some of countries, like Kenya, know an important rate of Non-Revenue-Water between 40 and 60 per cent of manufactured waters.

In 2016, the partnership between Diehl Metering and Danco Capital Limited Company, located at Ruiri in Kenya, was born of a meeting during the international congress of African Water Association in Nairobi. Together, both answered to the tender launched by Thika Water Company to set up a complete solution for water management.

The choice fell on mechanicals water meters as AQUILA PC and ALTAIR V4 from single jet and volumetric ranges of Diehl Metering. Their metrological performances and their composite finish made the difference. In 2017, the setting up of around 8.000 water meters, out of the 30.000 planned, is over.

By the end, an automatic meter reading solution will improve the network for more performances and a fair billing for the final consumer. Diehl Metering’s expertise shared during workshops dedicated to training field teams reinforces the Thika Water’s choice.

Several projects are under study and especially with the launching of the new ultrasonic water meter HYDRUS 2.0 by Diehl Metering, to support the growth of Smart Cities in Africa.
