The National Water and Pipeline Corporation (NWPC) will renovate the Chemususu dam located at Kenya’s Koibatek county for US$570,000

In an effort to improve the condition of drought-stricken areas, Julius Kones, chairman of NWPC, said that the corporation will spend an additional US340,000 on community water projects.

The projects in the county include Tinet, Torongo, Tugumoi, Tiripkatoi, Mwachon and Ibobor.

Meanwhile, Rift Valley Water and Sewerage Services Company will undertake the expansion and extension of the new distribution works, NWPC said.

Kones added that the company will build a dam storage and the project is expected to be commissioned in May 2014.

According to NWPC, the project will benefit residents of Koibatek, Mogotio and Marigat.
