SEIFSA launches excellence awards in engineering and manufacturing

South Africa’s Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) has introduced the annual SEIFSA Awards for Excellence for the metal manufacturers and engineering companies operating in southern Africa

Adelia Pimentel, marketing and communications executive at SEIFSA, said, “It is of paramount importance that companies play a crucial role in socio-economic upliftment and are recognised for their contributions and encouraged to continuously do more.”

Ten categories have been shortlisted for awards such as “Most Innovative Company of the Year” for the company that has shown the high creativity in research and development and “The Health and Safety Award of the Year” for the company with the best legal compliance record in health and safety or the lowest Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate.

In addition, companies with a strong corporate social initiative programme would also be considered. Other categories inclue “Most Transformed Company of the Year”, “Decade of the Artisan”, and “The Environment Stewardship Award”.

Aside from recognising winners of the different awards, SEIFSA’s member companies and associated affiliations would also be honoured at the ceremony, set to take place in March 2015, confirmed officials from SEIFSA.
