Panasonic Appliances India, a manufacturer of rice cookers and grinder mixers, has announced plans to market its products in Africa
According to Zee News, the company's managing director Hidenori Aso said, “Over the years, we have exported our products to the USA, Canada and the Middle East. We are now looking at markets in Africa. Agents have already been identified in these markets. We will target regions where rice consumption is high.”
Exports of rice cookers and other appliances contributed 17 per cent towards the manufacturer’s overall sales in 2012.
Panasonic Appliances India’s Chennai manufacturing plant has the capacity to produce two million cookers per annum. The company has planned to buy an additional 25,000 sq m of space in the area that will aid its expansion strategy.
“The plant, which manufactures rice cookers of 4.2 litres capacity, will also manufacture 7.2 litre rice cookers within the next year, which can be used in restaurants and hostels,” Panasonic Appliances India said.
