Network monochrome printers that offer low-cost productivity

Three compact, new monochrome Xerox laser printers from Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 27 sub-Saharan countries, bring affordably priced productivity and performance to network printing.

The Xerox Phaser 3155, 3160B, and 3160N black-and-white laser printers produce 24 pages per minute (ppm) and offer high-quality output, reliable operations and a deep feature set for printing in small businesses, home offices and personal use.

“These three new Phaser printers provide a range of options for high-performance, all-purpose printing at entry-level prices,” says Ernest Leong, product manager of office printing business at Bytes Document Solutions. “With these compact, capable and powerful laser printers, users get more for less.”

All three models provide best-in-class monthly duty cycles — 12,000 prints for the Phaser 3155, and 15 000 for the two Phaser 3160 models — to meet the daily printing needs of busy work teams. Yet each is also physically suited to serve as a personal or shared printer, with low noise levels and a compact footprint (360 x 389 mm) to fit easily on a desktop.

To meet a wide range of printing needs, the three models offer choices in their connectivity, image resolutions and controllers. All three models provide USB 2.0 connectivity. An Ethernet 10/100Base-TX connection is standard on the network-ready Phaser 3160N.

Image resolution is 600x600 dots per inch, with software enhancements achieving 1200 x 600 dpi on the Phaser 3155 and 1200 x 1200 dpi on the two Phaser 3160 models. The Phaser 3155 has a powerful 155MHz processor and 8MB of memory. The two 3160 versions offer an even more robust 360MHz processor, 64MB of memory, and broader print language support to include PCL6/PCL5e and Epson/IBM.

All three models are equipped with a fully enclosed paper tray for up to 250 sheets, which keeps paper dust-free and limits interruptions to re-load paper. A second multi-purpose tray feeds special sizes and media, such as envelopes, transparencies and postcards. First-print-out time is as fast as eight seconds.

All three models offer a range of features. Scaling, reduction/ enlargement and fit-to-page provide image sizing options. Toner-saver mode, power-saver mode, multiple-up printing and job cancel can conserve resources and reduce costs. Manual duplexing reduces paper usage and related costs while boosting productivity. Other features include watermark printing, manual booklet-making and poster printing – printing sections of images that can be tiled together into a larger piece.

The new models are easy to set up, maintain and operate in Windows, Mac and Linux environments. The Phaser 3160N also comes with Xerox CentreWare Internet Services, which enables operators to set up, manage and check job status on the 3160N using a Web browser.

All three models are Energy Star-qualified. They can use either high-capacity toner cartridges, which yield 2,500 pages, or standard-capacity cartridges, which yield 1,500 pages. Their consumables are part of Xerox’s Green World Alliance, a worldwide initiative to encourage Xerox customers to recycle or dispose of supplies in a manner that minimises impact on the environment.
