AECOM Technology wins US$30 million contract in South Africa

AECOM Technology has won a three-year contract worth US$30mn from South Africa’s Transnet to provide engineering, procurement, construction management (EPCM) and project-close-out services for up to 15 infrastructure projects in South Africa

State-owned Transnet is responsible for freight rail, port, fuel pipelines and other infrastructure improvements in the country.

US-based AECOM Technology specialises in technical and management support services. The company has clients in more than 140 countries and had posted a total turnover of US$8.2bn for the year ended June 2013, according to company sources.

According to a press statement, AECOM Technology’s projects in South Africa will be around the Cape Town, Postmasburg and Saldanha regions. These infrastructure projects will include the container terminal expansion at the Port of Cape Town and the upcoming iron ore train-loading facilities at Postmasburg.   

AECOM Technology chairman John M Dionisio said, “These projects showcase our global presence, as our employees deliver outstanding services. Our team is eager to continue partnering with Transnet, a key client for AECOM Technology, to implement critical infrastructure improvements.”
