As of this week, Organisers of the Nigerian Food Event have officially announced the cancellation of their launch food, beverage and hospitality event and subsequent editions moving forward.
Over the past 18 months, huge effort and expense has been poured in to promoting the show regionally and globally and the launch of NFE was originally widely welcomed in the industry both locally and internationally. However the organisers, Afrocet Montgomery, have now confirmed that a number of untimely cancellations from key companies and a country pavilion had a devastating impact on the event, and at less than two months out from the show, meant it was not possible to go ahead as planned.
Mr. George Pearson, the Event’s Director, said, “Afrocet Montgomery and the wider Montgomery group prides itself on organising industry-leading reputable exhibitions in Africa. It was decided that due to the number of confirmed exhibitors with less than 8 weeks to go, NFE wouldn’t provide the effective & profitable platform that we insist on providing for our visitors and exhibitors. For this, plus the previously mentioned reason, we have had to make this incredibly difficult decision to cancel the exhibition moving forward.”
He continued, “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and again reiterate this decision has not been made lightly. Please ensure this decision has been made in the interest of all confirmed exhibitors and our pre-registered visitors, we simply felt we could not guarantee the high-level offering on which with pride ourselves on.”
