ELECRAMA-2014 sees global success in India

The 11th edition of ELECRAMA-2014 succeeded as the world’s largest exposition of electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment and promoted ‘Made-in-India’ brand globally

This flagship event of IEEMA was held over the five-day period recently at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in India.

Beginning 8 January 2014 and spread over six halls, the gross area was in excess of 70,000 square metres.

ELECRAMA-2014 hosted 805 exhibitors from India and 165 from 25 countries and showcased products and technology through the entire voltage spectrum, from 220V to 1,200kV, conforming to global standards and specifications.

Speaking with African Review of Business and Technology, Mr Sanjeev Sardana, Chairman of ELECRAMA-2014 and Managing Director of Yamuna Power & Infrastructure Limited, said, “ELECRAMA-2014, so far, has been the largest ELECRAMA we had four international pavilions — Germany, Korea, China and Taiwan. We also had lot of EPC contractors from different part of the world who are looking at business opportunities worth US$500bn in India, especially in the power sector.

According to exhibitors, ELECRAMA-2014 attracted a record number of visitors from the global electrical industry, including key decision and policy makers, regulators, officials of power utilities, representatives of funding agencies, technical specialists and consultants, electrical equipment buyers, engineering project contractors and members of the academic community from India and abroad.

The five-day ELECRAMA-2014 was also supported by the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises and Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

With the ‘Go Global’ theme, ELECRAMA 2014 showcased to the world the strengths and capabilities of Indian manufacturers and the global competitiveness of electrical equipment manufactured in India. It also provided a platform to promote the ‘Made-in-India’ brand for the world.

Mr Sardana also shared that this ELECRAMA has surpassed all expectations and highlighted the achievements of International Transmission and Distribution (T&D) conclave that was held for the first time under his chairmanship on 9 January 2014.

Talking about Middle East and African participation, Mr Sardana said that they were large number of delegations from MENA region, who were quite impressed by visiting Elecrama. The organisers also had sponsored 435 visitors mostly from power utilities from Africa, SAARC countries and Latin America. “Today there are opportunities worth US$10bn in the power sector alone in Iraq as the country is rebuilding the T&D network.”
