A Moroccon ministry source said, “The consortium which had bid for the project consisted of ACWA and two more Spanish companies - ARIES IS and TKK EE.

“Tenders for the contract were judged by the Moroccan Solar Energy Agency, which finally selected the ACWA-led consortium over three other strong contenders,” the source added.
Moroccan Solar Energy Agency head, Mustapha Bakkoury, said that the ACWA-led team had put forward the “best technical and financial offer”.
Bakkoury added that he hoped that solar energy production in Morocco would reach 2,000MW by 2020 and account for more than 38 per cent of the country’s energy consumption.
