The global arbitration law firm Three Crowns LLP and the Africa Energy Arbitrators’ Forum (AEA) of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre (LACIAC) are hosting the East Africa Policy Webinar, "The Future of East African Energy and Infrastructure Disputes” on March 30
The event will be held via Zoom at 3:00pm EAT / 1:00pm BST / 8:00am ET and will highlight the triggers for current and future energy and infrastructure-related disputes in sub-Saharan Africa, including climate change, the energy transition, and state v state competition for exploitation of shared natural resources.
The key speakers include Dr Victoria Nalule, CEO of Nalule Energy & Minerals Consultants and founder and executive director of African Energy and Minerals Management Initiative; Maxime Rabilloud, country chair at TotalEnergies Mozambique; Thierry Ngoga, managing partner of Legal Line Partners; Constantine Partasides QC, partner at Three Crowns LLP and Kathryn Khamsi, partner at Three Crowns LLP. Hamid Abdulkareem, counsel at Three Crowns LLP will moderate the event.
Infrastructure investment remains a major desideratum for sub-Saharan Africa, and governments and private investors are ploughing significant amounts to fill gaps in key infrastructure classes, including energy, road, rail transportation and water infrastructure. The faculty will discuss the trends observed in the resolution of energy and infrastructure-related disputes in the region thus far, including such elements as the preferred methods of dispute resolution and favoured arbitral seats. The faculty will offer recommendations for policy makers and practitioners alike on proactive and effective dispute management.
