Himoinsa supplies 25 diesel generators for Angola’s biofuel plant

European generator manufacturer Himoinsa has supplied 25 diesel generators and lighting towers for the construction of Biocom’s biofuel manufacturing plant in Angola

Situated in Cacuso, 75 km from Angola, the plant is managed by Biocom – a consortium comprising Sonangol, Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis of Angola and Brazilian power company Odebrecht.

The biofuel manufacturing plant produces 120MW of power, and will provide an output close to 18,000 tonnes of sugar and 3,00 cu/m of ethanol annually. Biocom, however, has estimated annual production will climb to 256,000 tonnes of sugar and 30mn litres of ethanol from 2019. In the first phase of production, the plant can generate 120MW per hour, expected to rise to 235MW per hour by 2019. Currently, the plant can supply power to 220,000 homes in the area, which is expected to double once power output increases to 235MW per hour.

Osvaldo de Brito Simao, commercial director of Himoinsa Angola, said, “The project is beneficial to the population of Malanje and important for Himoinsa Angola’s technical and commercial team, who have worked to manufacture and maintain the equipment needed for the project, to guarantee a high-quality and continuous supply of energy, without any outages.”
