Temporary power supply solutions provider Aggreko has announced the expansion of its power project in Côte d’Ivoire with the addition of 100MW of generating capacity
With this, the total combined output from the power project in the West African country will be expected reach 200MW.
The power company said in a statement that the extension of the plant was officially inaugurated by Côte d’Ivoire Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan during a ceremony held on 1 July 2013 at the project site in the capital Abidjan.
State power utility of Côte d’Ivoire, CI-Energies director general Amidou Traore said, “We are pleased to be adding an additional 100MW into the national grid as part of our program to strengthen the energy infrastructure across the country.”
A statement by the company also indicated that the 200MW from the project will inject vital capacity into the local grid, helping to keep essential infrastructure and services running, while also ensuring that power supplies were maintained to both business and domestic users.
By addition of large-scale, fast-track interim power, Côte d’Ivoire will be expected to be able to continue the supply of energy required to sustain economic growth.
