The Aggreko Shanduka cross-border power project, situated at Ressano Garcia in Mozambique, has received the prize for Africa’s Best Fast Track Power project in 2012 at the Africa Energy Awards

UK-based Aggreko and South African holding company Shanduka were handed the award at the event, which was recently held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The prize giving ceremony took place during the gala dinner of the Power and Electricity World Africa conference and exhibition, which took place from 8-11 April 2013 in Johannesburg.

The projects supplied 110MW of power to national supplier of Mozambique, Electricidade de Mocambique and cross-border to Eskom, the South African national utility.

"To realise a project of this scale and complexity, the global resources of Aggreko were mobilised to project manage and engineer the installation of Ressano Garcia," commented Ron Sams, global operations and technology director of Aggreko.

"This capability coupled with the expertise of our partnering contractors and customers, working together as one team resulted in the successful delivery of this remarkable project," he added.
