Louis Berger consortium to build Côte d’Ivoire road

A Louis Berger-led consortium has been awarded a US$1.76mn contract to supervise the construction of a major road in Côte d’Ivoire

When complete, the road will stretch for 45 km between the second largest town in the north of the country, Ferkessédougou, and Ouangolodougou, which is located on the northern border with Burkina Faso.

The construction supervision contract, worth US$1.76mn, was funded by the French Agency for Development through its Ivorian debt relief and development programme.

Louis Berger’s head of African operations Jean-Pierre Dupacq said, “This road, when complete, will help local Ivorian producers transport their products to market faster and in better conditions.”

“The road also will generate additional regional trade and economic benefits because it links Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Mali,” Dupacq added.

The project, which will include the rehabilitation of several important road crossings, will not be the engineering firm’s first foray into Africa. The company has been operating in the continent for more than 50 years, and has already secured maintenance and consultancy contracts for road projects in Gabon and Mozambique this year.
