Ethiopia’s National Cement S.C. has signed a one-year management deal with Egyptian firm Asec Engineering and Management for the operation and maintenance of a cement plant in Ethiopia

The contract is renewable for a five-year term, and will allow National Cement to receive complete technical assistance from Asec Engineering and Management for the operation and maintenance of a cement plant, located in Dire Dawa, east of Addis Ababa. The plant currently produces 400 tonnes of cement every day.

Khaled El Sebaie, CEO of Asec Engineering said, “This is the result of continued efforts by Asec Engineering and its ambitious plans to expand its business into Sub-Saharan Africa.” The company signed a contract with Cimento Nacional Company in Mozambique.

Asec Engineering will introduce and implement systems for all aspects of production, quality, maintenance, warehousing and human resources, among other areas, stated company officials. The company is expected to introduce measures that will enhance production volume, reduce cost and improve production quality.
