Mangalis Management Group (MMG) has revealed plans to make a US$507mn investment in building hotels in 15 sub-Saharan African countries

The group, which is the hospitality management arm of Inaugure Hospitality Group, said in a statement that it will construct new hotels in 13 countries in the sub-Saharan Africa region. It added that it was eyeing about 2,200 rooms and suites spread between 15 properties in Africa.

The hotel’s top management announced the new investment deals recently during the opening of two days African Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF) in Nairobi. Kenya is among the African countries where MMG has plans to set up hotels.

Kenyan cabinet secretary Phyllis Kandie said that the government was ready to work with the private sector under the public-private partnerships framework to encourage more development in the hospitality industry. She added that the government was ready to offer tax incentives to private developers who may wish to invest in the country.

“We are working on ways to come up with an inter-ministerial meeting to iron out Visa issues and other areas that may drag the East African Community as well as international partnerships,” Kandie said.
