The International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) was formed in 1974 as a professional society dedicated to promoting the safety, security and the controlled use of explosives, and many other peaceful uses of explosives. With more than 4,600 members from 90 countries, ISEE is recognised as a world leader in providing explosives technology, education, and information, and promoting public understanding of the benefits of explosives. Many years in the making, the new edition focuses on blasting principles and blast design basics for the hands-on blaster and features troubleshooting checklists, a brand new Initiation Systems chapter, colour graphics/photos, and international units of measurement throughout.

100 years of experience

The Handbook represents over 100 years of DuPont and ETI blasting expertise combine with the many collective years of experience of top explosives engineers from all segments of the explosives industry – authors, reviewers, editors and others who generously contributed to this work. The 18th edition’s mission is to provide brand neutral, non-mining methods, blasting reference handbook to help the blaster-in-charge understand the core blasting principles and factors to: (1) optimize blast performance, (2) independently make blast designs, (3) assess performance, (4) troubleshoot problems, and (5) conduct “safe” blasting operations.

By its mission, this edition differs from previous industry handbooks by fostering an understanding of the principles common to all rock blasting operations.
