Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Electricity of Djibouti to jointly evaluate and develop a 60MW wind power plant in Djibouti
Nasser Al Jaidah, chief executive officer of QPI, and Djama Ali Guelleh, general manager, Electricity of Djibouti signed the MoU. The ceremony was also attended by the Moumin Hassen Barreh, ambassador of Djibouti.
Al Jaidah said, “This MoU is a further milestone in the implementation of QPI’s strategy to develop actively its presence abroad and especially in Africa.”
Guelleh said the partnership will bring added value to the development of Djibouti’s power resources and added that the new agreement was a milestone that is likely to open a new era of cooperation between Djibouti and Qatar.
Electricity of Djibouti is a public-owned industrial and commercial establishment created to provide electricity in the republic of Djibouti.
It focuses on renewable energy projects that have the potential to offer sustainable long-term returns via various methods of renewable energy production.
