Gentec successfully commissioned the Tower Power Utility Ltd CPP power plant in 2009, which has been successfully supplying power to a number of Tower Aluminium group industries. TPUL and Gentec have commenced an expansion programme to meet the growing customer demand for clean and reliable power. This expansion will increase the TPUL installed generation capacity from 8.75MW to 14.9 MW. The expansion will be implemented in distinct phases, including the addition of 3 x 1.75 MW Cummins gas generators as well as the implementation of a waste heat recovery (WHR) system. The WHR system will be used to drive a combined cycle steam turbine (CCST), delivering additional generating capacity. This use of waste heat for combines cycle will be the first such project of its kind in Nigeria. Gentec is responsible for the complete turnkey EPC implementation of the expansion project, with target completion in Q1, 2011.
