Barras-Hill takes over from long-serving African Review editor Andrew Croft, who steps down to pursue academic interests.

With more than 7 years’ experience as a journalist and editor, Barras-Hill has held editorial positions across a variety of B2B publications, including spells covering UK local government, the public realm, built environment, and the international luxury goods markets.

Most recently, he was business and finance editor for global travel retail luxury title Frontier magazine where he drove enhanced coverage across print and digital avenues and presided over the successful relaunch of a buyer-focused sister publication.

He said: “I am delighted to take the editorial helm and look forward to the challenge of maintaining African Review’s prestigious reputation as the leading technical and business title for management and senior executives working across industry and government in Africa.

“New technologies and innovations are affecting ubiquitous changes in commercial, industrial and service sector infrastructure, meaning there has never been a more exciting time to trade with the continent.

“Alongside continuing to provide relevant, timely and authoritative editorial that aids the decisions of those who do business in or with Africa, I want to forge new relationships across the magazine’s sectors and raise our profile by amplifying content through print and digital synergies to ensure African Review is the indispensable choice for new readers and crucially, new investors.”

Georgia Lewis, Alain Charles Publishing's managing editor added, "African Review is going through an exciting period of change with this year's redesign.

"The magazine is our oldest publication and the flagship title for the company and I am confident that Luke will be able to take the magazine forward at a time when there are opportunities for growth and economic transformation across Africa."
