Johannesburg city officials have unveiled a plan that they claim will transform the South African city into the ‘New York of Africa’
Nthatisi Modingoane, Johannesburg city spokesperson, said “The plan is expected to cost over a US$10bn and will improve the transport and rail network in the city.
“Let’s try and reduce the travel time, and the amount of money that people use in terms of making sure they get economic opportunities, places of work and so forth.”
The project will drastically reduce transport costs for underprivileged South Africans who use public transport, the city spokesperson added.
