In Johannesburg in mid-July 2010 as part of a whistle-stop world lecture tour, Dr Carol Dahl, Professor of Mineral and Energy Economics at the Colorado School of Mines in the USA, conducted a two-day workshop on Energy Economics at the Glen Hove Conference Centre.

The government says the ongoing construction of the 250 megawatt Bujagali hydro power project will have its turbine commissioned in October 2011, increasing installed generation capacity from the current 550 megawatts to about 880 megawatts of electricity in 2012 when the dam is fully completed.
