The President of Angola João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço welcomed Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayad Al Nahyan from the western region of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to define the strategic partnership between the two countries

The two figureheads met in Luanda on 14 December to discuss the strengthening of their economic relations, particularly in the areas of agriculture, renewable energy and mining.

At the end of the one hour and 15 minute meeting, the Angolan Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto told reporters that the re-launch of the partnership also involved identifying investment opportunities for Angola in the UAE.

The UAE has the sixth largest oil reserves in the world and has one of the most developed economies in the Middle East.

The Persian Gulf country has the thirty-sixth largest economy by nominal gross domestic product (GDP) and is one of the richest countries in the world by per capita gross GDP.
