Instrumentation engineers and constructors Wade Walker has embarked on a sub-contract at Eskom’s Medupi coal energy project in South Africas Limpopo province
The contract was awarded to Wade Walker, a wholly-owned Murray & Roberts subsidiary, by ELB Engineering.
The sub-contract will call for electrical and instrumentation installation on 54 coal and ash conveyors, varying in size from 100 metres to 300 metres and extending over approximately 11.5km, as well as on nine substations.
The work will include cable racking, junction boxes, instrumentation and cabling.
For getting the sub-contract, the Wade Walker team was required to supply specialist UVG instrumentation cable as per Eskom’s specifications, while the junction boxes had to be constructed from stainless steel to accommodate the hazardous environment.
