USTDA supports geothermal project development in Zambia 

The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has signed a US$1.5mn grant with Kalahari GeoEnergy Limited, a Zambian geothermal development company, for a feasibility study supporting the development of a 10-20 MW geothermal power plant. Click here to read the full story. 

AfDB grants US$23.25mn for Liberia’s renewable energy sector 

The AfDB has granted Liberia US$23.25mn through the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) for the construction of a 9.8MW hydropower plant at Gbedin Falls on the Mano River, with an aim to transform the renewable energy sector in the country. Click here to read the full story. 

Volvo Penta showcases new 11-litre diesel engine for off-road applications 

Volvo Penta is showcasing its new 11-litre diesel engine, which is designed to run at 315kW, up from the initial 285kW, at the TOC Europe in Amsterdam from 27-29 June 2017. Click here to read the full story.

“MEA to have 40GW of wind-power capacity by 2026” 

MAKE consulting has recently reported that the wind-power capacity in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region amounted to 676MW in 2016, compared to 682MW in 2015, and has forecasted the region’s capacity to install nearly 40GW of new wind-power capacity from 2017 to 2026.
