For the first time in its 27 years, aef is being hosted in South Africa in Cape Town under the enchanting shadow of Table Mountain and in the heart of one of the most active energy development centres in Africa.
With over 25 Ministers of energy, 30 Heads of utilities from across Africa, along with their delegations and the world's biggest investors, including DFIs, IPPs, solution providers and commercial financiers under one roof, this 4-day gathering is where real business gets done, and groundbreaking deals are announced.
Under the theme 'Africa United', aef will also provide a strong platform to bring African stakeholders together with a united voice and declare what Africa wants and needs to the world. This will be the perfect opportunity to amplify the message from aef to the G20 meetings hosted by South Africa this year.
It's not all work and no play amongst the many networking opportunities - aef 2025 will see the return of the aef Africa Cup Football Tournament. Delegates will be invited to a once in a lifetime opportunity to play a match at the DHL stadium.
Looking into the future aef is building its legacy with YES! (Youth Energy Summit). To electrify the continent of 1.5 billion people, home to the world's fastest-growing youth population, it is essential to include Africa’s young people in the conversation. YES! will be the bridge between academia and industry and is designed to empower youth to succeed in their careers in energy development. Hence, this year EnergyNet will host YES! alongside aef. With 4,000 youth attending, the support of South Africa's IPP Office and the home-grown success story - Pele Green, YES! will be the biggest and most impactful gathering of youth in the energy sector worldwide!
