In June, Afrocet Montgomery and IMAG in partnership with Deloitte Consulting and under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Federal Republic of Nigeria, is launching ConMin West Africa and the National Mining Summit in Abuja, Nigeria

The organisers are pleased to announce that the event will be opened on 13 June 2017 by His Excellency Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, vice president of Nigeria. The platform is aimed at attracting national and international stakeholders and investors into the West African region, as a key step to rebuilding market confidence and improving foreign and local investment into the sector.

Both exhibition and summit are taking shape, with growing interest from national and international stakeholders in the potential of Nigeria’s mining sector. In February the organisers travelled down to the Mining Indaba in Cape Town where advanced discussions were taking place with the involvement of the South African government’s participation in the event.

With Nigeria and South Africa having concluded an agreement on mining sector cooperation, this will be a welcome addition to the show. Furthermore, South Africa is the biggest mining centre in Africa, as such this agreement means Nigeria will benefit from advice on geology, regulatory framework and licensing and mineral processing; a further sign to investors that the country is taking the promotion of mining seriously.

The event will be hear from the CEO of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr Oscar N. Onyema OON along with experts from other top financial institutions such as First City Monument Bank and the Africa Finance Corporation as well as key figures from other West African Governments and Deloitte Consulting.

The Exhibition is attracting attention from across the supply chain; exhibitors will include equipment providers; geological and geotechnical companies; law firms; political risk firms and machinery suppliers. As such, both the National Mining Summit 2017 and ConMin West Africa provides an ideal platform for investors, miners, government officials and service providers riding this wave of renewed confidence and optimism to forge new business opportunities and partnerships.
