Major Japanese energy companies to showcase innovations at 24th World Energy Congress

The 24th World Energy Congress (WEC) will be held in Abu Dhabi from 9-12 September 2019, exploring new energy futures, critical innovation areas and new energy strategies across the globe

Major Japanese energy companies from oil and gas, utilities, innovation and renewables sector have confirmed to participate in the WEC. The Organising Committee of the WEC has concluded an Asian business roadshow, achieving firm agreements of engagement of energy companies and energy leaders across South Korea, China and Japan to the Abu Dhabi event.

In Japan, the delegation met energy leaders from across the Japanese energy sector including Chiyoda Corporation, INPEX, JERA, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and Tokyo Gas Company, trade bodies including FEPC, Japan Coal Energy Centre, Japan Gas Association and the Petroleum Association of Japan, as well as the Institute of Energy Economics Japan and senior officials at the Japanese Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry (METI).

During the visit, a participation agreement was signed between the chairman of the 24th WEC Organising Committee and the president and CEO of the International Petroleum Exploration Company (INPEX), one of the leading oil and gas exploration and production companies in Japan.

Dr Matar Al Neyadi, undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and chairman of the UAE Organising Committee for the 24th World Energy Congress, said that conference is set to provide a platform for the Japanese energy industry to showcase its cutting-edge technology and innovation in the energy sector.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the 24th edition has attracted more than 150 energy leaders as confirmed speakers across a Congress’ programme that will showcase forward-looking visions, analyse the business of the energy sector, bring a record number of energy ministers and discuss the role of innovation in the energy sector. Also, more than 1,500 delegate registrations have been already received with seven months to go to the event.
